Years ago I would make simple pads of scrap paper by tearing used paper into quarters, and stapling the pile together (unused side facing up, of course). These rough pads were practical but not very pretty, and they eventually fell out of favor in our house.
Today I revived the idea, and I think I like them enough this time that they’ll stick around.
I used our paper cutter for a clean edge, and then it dawned on me that my cutter has a perforating blade. (ooh, fancy.) One can also tear the paper right off of the staples, as I’ve done in the past. I wanted the pad to hang on a wall, hence the ribbon. I tied the excess ribbon in a bow, which I decided was kind of cute. Extra ribbon can also hang a pencil.
